Serendipity means “happy accident” or “pleasant surprise.” This word, which has been voted one of the hardest to translate in the English language, well-describes how the Simms family happened upon Simmzy’s. Here, let us explain...
Mike Simms and his brother grew up running around the kitchen and under tables at West Hollywood’s French Market and Manhattan Beach’s The Kettle –– his father’s and grandfather’s restaurants.
Learning the Ropes
Mike Simms attended Cornell’s prestigious Hotel School. After graduating, he immediately started managing restaurants and immersing himself in food. Simms began connecting local eateries to surrounding farms, brewers, and wineries.
Simmzy’s Was Born
In 2009, Simmzy’s Manhattan Beach was born, opening alongside the Simms Restaurant Group’s Tin Roof Bistro. The location for Simmzy’s was found first, and Mike knew the vacant space was perfect for brews and burgers.
Now ten years later, Simmzy’s has six locations. Simmzy’s prides itself on homemade craft beers and food worth savoring. A SoCal native and father of four children, Mike looks forward to serving that family-feel with vacation vibes every day.
Simms Restaurant Group
Simms Restaurant Group consists of Mike Simms, his brother Chris, and his father Tom. Together, they own six incredible restaurant concepts.
Simmzy’s and Simms Restaurants proudly support nonprofits that benefit children, education, and their surrounding communities.
